National Active and Retired Federal Employees

Driving Directions: Take Route 2 West to exit 37B, or Route 2 East to exit 37. Exit road puts you on Jackson Road Northbound. Follow Jackson Road approximately 2 miles to Devens Common (on right). Turn right on Andrews Parkway. The Devens Common Center is located next to the Spring Hill Suites Hotel (on the right side connected by a covered walkway).

Lodging: Springhill Suites Hotel by Marriott at Devens Common Center has blocked (35) rooms for persons attending the convention. The rate has been set at $104.00 per night plus tax. All reservations should be made directly with the hotel at telephone 978-772-3030 before April 12, 2018. The rate cannot be guaranteed after that date. Please identify yourself as a member of NARFE when making your reservation. Anyone wishing to stay on the nights of Wednesday, May 2nd, Thursday, May 3rd, and/or Friday, May 4th can make arrangements under these guidelines.

Attendance: Chapter Presidents should send their list of members attending to Federation Secretary, Gene Holt, not later than April 20, 2018. National members may notify Gene Holt individually by the same due date at or 978-256-6818.

Registration: Member registration is from 12:30 to 4:00 pm on May 3rd and from 8 to 8:50 am on May 4th. Everyone should be seated by 8:50 am on May 4th to provide for a timely commencement of convention business at 9:00 am.

Thursday Afternoon Program: The details are not finalized at this notice. Expect the program to include: 1) A Federal Benefits session with James Marshall, Deputy Director, Federal Benefits Institute, 2) A Legislative Advocacy session via electronic link with a NARFE Headquarters representative. The afternoon schedule will begin at 1:15 pm.

Banquet: Social hour with a cash bar will begin at 5:30 pm on May 3rd. Banquet will follow at 6:30 pm. The dinner entrees will be Tuscan Chicken (marinated chicken breast grilled and topped with marinated roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, melted mozzarella cheese and finish with a balsamic glaze) or Grilled Teriyaki Steak Tips (marinated tender beef tips with teriyaki glaze). Price is $ 40.00 per person. Reservations should be made and send your check made out to “NARFE Chapter 479 Conference” to: Stella Pierce, NARFE-MFC Host Committee, 5 Old Planters Road, Beverly, MA 01915, Telephone: 978-969-1761.

Please submit all reservations no later than April 20, 2018. If you wish to sit with specific people at the banquet, please indicate with whom on a note attached to the banquet registration form. We will do our best to accommodate your wishes. Chapters are requested to consolidate their reservations for both, the banquet and the luncheon.

Breakfast: The hotel offers a complimentary buffet breakfast for hotel guests only
Friday Program: The annual Federation Business Meeting will be convened 9:00 am. The program will include guest speakers from NARFE, Congressional and State representatives.

Lunch: We have made arrangements for the Devens Common Center to provide a luncheon on Friday, May 4th. The luncheon will consist of a Delicatessen Buffet. Price is $23.00 per person. Please make the lunch reservation and send payment made out to “NARFE Chapter 479 Conference” not later than April 20, 2018 to: Stella Pierce, NARFE-MFC Host Committee, 5 Old Planters Road, Beverly, MA 01915, telephone: 978-969-1761.

Memorial Service: This annual event will be held at the beginning of the business meeting on Friday morning. Chapters please select one member to represent your chapter and indicate selection on the Delegate Registration Form due to the Federation Secretary April 20, 2018.

Raffle Returns: To eliminate the need for the Treasurer to send back one half of the raffle receipts to each chapter, chapters should submit only one half of the total amount they receive for raffle ticket sales. Chapters should make checks payable to “NARFE Chapter 479 Conference” and send with ticket stubs not later than Friday, April 20, 2018.
